Bombay Velvet Analysis :

Bombay Velvet Movie Review

The first half of the movie is completely unusual and terrific. The narration has been quite interesting and the movie brings us a feel that we are in Bombay in the late 60s. The movie has lot of race and the quirky one liners along with the performances take the film to the next level. Amit Trivedi’s background score along with songs have been completely projected and taken from 1960s. On the whole the complete first half has been impressive.

The second half of the movie takes the same pace but some of the episodes lack proper narration. The pre climax episodes have been dragged too much and the climax has been predictable. However the other part of the movie along with the narration of Anurag Kashyap makes the film decent.

Bombay Velvet Performance :

Ranbir Kapoor excels as Johhny Balraj and he has lived up in the character. Each and everything including his costumes and styling has been taken lot of care. Anushka Sharma has been sizzling and she shines as Rosie. The wild romantic scenes between them need a special mention. Karan Johar makes an impressive debut as an actor with negative shades in the movie. Kay Kay Menon, Satyadeep Mishara and all others have delivered out their best.

The story of the movie has been taken from Gyan Prakash’s novel Mumbai Fables. Anurag managed not to miss the nativity and he made sure that the Bombay in 1960s will be on screen. The screenplay and the dialogues are the highlights of the film. Amit Trivedi’s music and the background score need a special mention. The cinematography is the other highlight. The production values have been grand enough and the direction has been terrific.

Final Word:

Bombay Velvet is the finest film of Anurag Kashyap till date. Ranbir and Anushka at their best. A must watch film if you love Anurag Kashyap’s films.
