We are familiar about the negative effects of high fat diet. They are associated with major diseases like heart attacks, obesity etc. According to a new study it was confirmed that consumption of high fatty food may leads to increased risk of depression, brain inflammation, behavior change and other psychiatric disorders.
The researchers were aimed at knowing the effect whether an obesity-related microbiome alters behavior and cognition even in the absence of obesity. The research was carried out in a non obese mice were conventionally housed and maintained on a normal diet, but received a transplant of gut microbiota from donor mice that had been fed either a high-fat diet or control diet. The mice were examined for the changes in its behavior.
It was observed that the mice who received microbiota shaped by high fat diet had shown multiple behaviors like increased anxiety, impaired memory and repetitive behaviors. Further, they showed many detrimental effects in the body, including increased intestinal permeability and markers of inflammation. Even the brain functions were also altered in the absence of obesity.
So it is good to cut eating fatty foods and start preferring only the healthy ones to stay healthy.
