Tamil Cinema shuts Operations

It’s already known that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha has been convicted and she has sent to jail. In a show of soliditary to this for Jayalalitha who was an yesterday actress, the entire Tamil Film Industry has shut the operations, shootings including the screening of films for a day and also planned for a day fast. Tamil Film Producers Council (TPFC), South Indian Artists Association (SIAA), many movie celebrities and artists have joined hands and started in the silent fast. The event is happenning at State Guest House, Chepauk. It started at 9AM and will end up at 6PM this evening. 

Meanwhile, the shooting activities in and around have been suspended for today. The screening of the movies have been stalled in Chennai for today and in other places the shows have been cancelled till 6PM this evening.  Jayalalithaa, an actor-turned politician, has been convicted in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case by a Bangalore special court on September 27 and sentenced to four years in jail besides a fine of Rs 100 crore. She has applied for a bail and the review is about to be replied on October 6th as the court has Dasara vacation till October 5th.
