After storming Bollywood with a barrage of blockbusters, southern beauty Deepika Padukone has her eyes set on the top spot in Kollywood.

The tinsel town diva, who is all set to make her big Tamil debut in Rajnikanth starrer 'Kochadaiiyaan' has been offered another plum role by Chimbu Devan opposite 'Illyapathy' Vijay. And Deepika seems all too willing for it.

Despite having a busy year ahead, Deepika doesn't intend to turn down the offer. In fact, buzz is that the actress will sign up for the venture shortly. A formal announcement  is expected in a few days time.

Insiders say that both Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone were in the run for this movie. After the makers failed to get Priyanka on board, they went for the latter.

Deepika Padukone is currently shooting for Bollywood's “Finding Fanny” starring Arjun Kapoor and Shahrukh Khan's “Happy New Year”.

Meanwhile, Chimbu Devan, whose “Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaniyum” releases today (April 4), will start shooting the new project soon. The film is expected to hit the floors in August.
