Varun Dhawan in Half Girl Friend

Ever since the novel Half Girlfriend has been announced by Chetan Bhagat, it has created lot of hype among the film circles as Cheten Bhagat’s previous novels adopted into films collected huge money at the box-office. The writer’s sixth novel has got immense craze over the audience and the rights of the novel have been sold out even before the novel has been released. Ektha Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures have acquired the rights of the movie and the direction responsibility has been handed over to talented and young Mohit Suri who scored two blockbusters Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villan.

Now the latest news is Varun Dhawan has been finalized for the lead role.

The movie has been titled Half Girlfriend as per the update and Varun Dhawan will play the lead role in the movie. The movie is about a Bihari boy who falls in love with a girl from an upper class society. Alia Bhatt is rumored to play the female lead and no official confirmation has been received as of now. Chetan Bhagat is handling the screenplay and the dialogues for the movie. Ektha has also shared the profits of the movie for Mohit Suri and Chetan Bhagat. After films like Hello, 3 Idiots, Kai Po Che and 2 States, Half Girlfriend is being adopted into a film written by Chetan Bhagat.
